Sexing a Chinchilla is quite easy once you know what you are looking for. I usually lift the back end of the chinchilla by holding the base of the tail firmly. This is usually enough to let you see whats there with out stressing them out to much.
Males will often show testicles but they are not always present , so do not assume you have a female just because you do not see a "package". I used this picture purposely because the testicles are not present. (Note if you look closely you can see the skin where they would show.)
The following pictures are of the MALE genitalia compliments of our very own "Low Brow" Mosaic boy. Males will have a gap between the anus and the penis area. Usually about enough to fit your pinkie finger tip in between. Females will not, they will be right on top of each other. (Scroll down for female pictures.)
